This is the second year of Stand Up to Bullying. On Decmber 13, 2011, the first Stand Up took place at Matthews Arena on the campus of Northeastern University in Boston. More than 4,000 middle and high school students and teachers from across Massachusetts and Rhode Island came together for the one-day program. Stand Up 2011 was the largest anti-bullying rally ever conducted in the United States. The program included a Town Hall Meeting with students from all over Massachusetts talking about experiences they had with bullying and preesntation of the Stand Up 2011 awards to five very deserving middle and high schools that have developed programs and curriculum to combat the bullying problem. Wanting to reach even more students and teachers, Stand Up to Bullying reached out to schools in New Hampshire. On November 29, 2012, Stand Up 2012 took place at the Tsongas Center in Lowell, Massachusetts. Over 4,600 students and teachers from Massachusetts, Rhode Island and New Hampshire attended. This year's program featured Jillian Jenson from the 2012 "X-Factor US" television program and Lizze Velasquez, an inspirational speaker. Attendees participated in a Town Hall meeting and met with another school to talk with them about what activities and programs they could do at their school to combat the bullying problems. Students provided feedback to each other and then reported back to their own schools and talked about their ideas. Three schools were honored for their programs with Stand Up 2012 Awards.
